Culture-Technology-Education are renewing their bond in the scientific seminar organized by “Athena” Research Center
How could somebody create educational material based on available cultural content? At the Scientific Seminar “Culture-Technology-Education” organized by the Institute of Language and Speech Processing (ILSP)/”Athena” Research Center, culture meets education and through technology theit bond is being strengthened. Targeting to promote the ways we could enrich the daily educational practice and enhance the cultural awareness, this scientific seminar will focus on the creation of learning material for educational use that is based on the rich cultural multimedia content. Keynote speakers in this seminar are: S. Markantonatou and G. Pavlidis, researchers of the ILSP/Athena, P. Adam-Veleni, Director of the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, G. Kekkeris and S. Mouroutsos, Professors of Democritus University of Thrace and G. Maistros, retired Professor of the National Technical University of Athens.
The ILSP/Athena designs and develops applications and modern technologies for the preservation and dissemination of cultural heritage, such as multimedia databases, 3D representations of monuments, objects and sites. Monuments of art and literary works from antiquity to the 21st century are the focus of research interests of the ILSP/Athena that aims to develop new methods of presentation of museum collections and archaeological sites so that they will be widely understood, and aims to multiply the educational value of collections, without reducing their academic importance.
