Information about ‘Synthesis’

‘Synthesis’, driven by an educational approach is inspired by the work of exceptional thinkers/artists of the 20th century that married the international artistic movements with Hellenism and were precursor or kept pace with the Generation of 1930 in Greece. A benchmark of this era is the work of the important Greek painter of the 20th century Spyros Papaloukas, much of whos work is preserved and displayed in the ‘Vasilis and Marina Theocharakis Fine Arts and Music Foundation’ (ThF). ThF constitutes a cross-cultural institution that exhibits important cultural elements to the general public, preserves and enriches them through the creative interaction with other cultural elements.

In this spirit, the work of Papaloukas connects with the Acropolis-Philopappou Projects of architect Dimitris Pikionis and the artworks of Hadjikyriakos-Gikas and Parthenis, with whom Spyros Papaloukas had close spiritual relationship, along with his sources of inspiration, namely Antiquity, Byzantium and modern art in Europe and the Greek folk art, so as to highlight the existing multifaceted relations between authors and entities/events that compose our experiential space. ‘Synthesis’ is based on the latest developments in Information and Communication Technologies provided and supported by the “Athena” Research and Innovation Center, the most specialized research center in ICTs in Greece.
